  1. First, only apply if you qualify.
Before sending your application, thoroughly read the scholarship’s requirements and instructions to make sure you qualify. If you are not eligible to apply, your application will not be considered in the least.
  2. Fill out the application completely.
Make sure to finish the application completely. Make a note on the application if a question is not applicable. Don’t leave it empty.
  3. Obey instructions.
Give everything that is needed, but avoid giving items that are not asked for since you risk being disqualified.
  4. Presentation matters.
Make additional photocopies of every document you receive. Utilize these as rough drafts as you create your application materials. Always type your application, or print it neatly and legibly if you must.
  5. Make sure your writing leaves a lasting impression.
Being detailed and personal when writing an essay is the secret to success. Include specific information, such as the “who,” “what,” “where,” and “when” of your topic, to bring your experience to life. Even the smallest experience can have a profound impact if you are honest about how it influenced you.
  6. CHECK ALL DEADLINES.
Set a deadline for yourself that is at least two weeks before the specified deadline to help you stay on track. Before submitting or delivering your application, use this “buffer time” to proofread it. Sending in late will result in the committee rejecting your application. Extensions are not allowed here.
  7. Take measures to ensure that your application is sent in the right direction.
Create a copy of the full package and keep it on file before sending your application. If something goes wrong with your application, you can always immediately duplicate it. Ensure that your name is visible on every page of the application. If components of your program are not properly labeled, they could be lost.
  8. Go over it one last time.
Carefully proofread the entire application. Keep an eye out for any spelling or grammar mistakes. Ask a friend, professor, or parent to review it for errors as well.
  9. If you need assistance, ask for it.
Visit the scholarship office at your school if you have questions about the application procedure. Visit the writing center at your school to have a tutor look at your essays.
  10. Always keep in mind that your scholarship application represents you!
The neatness, timeliness, and completeness of your application speak well of you. This organization sees you as its face. By submitting the best application you can, take pride in yourself.Always keep in mind that your scholarship application represents you!
